TRAILBLAZING LEADERSHIP
THEME 2025
As we confront the unprecedented challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, conflicts, and pandemics, our future appears increasingly uncertain.
To navigate these challenges, we need courageous leaders who dare to confront problematic structures and systems. Leaders who uphold principles and values, and who act with vision, responsibility, ethics, and hope. Above all, they need to prioritise long-term goals over short-term profits.Successful leaders driving sustainable transformation are essential for charting a new course in global development and serve as powerful role models.
This form of leadership builds coalitions that are primarily cultural, educational, and healing, rather than military or economic. The ability to gather people across borders, break through entrenched positions and foster constructive dialogue and collective learning and is paramount.
This type of leadership demands deep understanding and humility in the face of the complex, often challenging, and vulnerable situations leaders find themselves in. It involves creating opportunities for others to step forward, driving profound institutional changes, and shaping new policies and practices.
In this critical moment for our planet, it is more important than ever to recognise leaders who act for the greater good. The theme for the 2025 WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Awards is Trailblazing Leadership.
